One of the most common things people automate around in their home are temperature controls. You use thermostats that sense the interior temperature and raise the heat or turn on the air conditioning accordingly.
Sometimes the easiest way to add home security to your house is simply to make it looked lived in when you are away and there are some easy and some expensive ways to accomplish this.
First of all to make your house secure I’m sure you want to do the following things…
- Never entering a dark house again!
- Automatically light up your home & property!
- Making your home look occupied when you’re away!
What you need is an easy way to…
- Schedule lights to turn off and on at different times.
- Dim and brighten lights at the touch of a button.
Â
Other things that can be accomplished with a home automation system are…
- Give a safe and warm welcome home every night!
- Provide security while you’re away with a realistic lived-in look!
- Lower energy bills with schedules for lighting and appliances!
- Create instant romance with the touch of a button!
Â
And now you want to do this easily and use your computer to drive your home automation system. To get an idea for a good home automation system, see the Active Home System.

Have you ever wanted to use a device outdoors to ward off possible intruders and maybe see who is trying to approach your home?
There is now FloodCam that can instantly shine lights on any intruder and capture all of the action on a TV, VCR or PC.
It’s actually a pair of left and right ordinary floodlights with a built in motion sensor device and tiny color camera built into one unit. The best part of this device is that it can be viewed on the TV or recorded while away from home.

Car vandals can be ruthless to the point of even breaking into your car as it sits in your driveway with you in the house. These young would-be thieves were caught on tape and arrested, thanks to a few strategically placed inexpensive cameras.
Michael Cole owns four Xcams, that he purchased a couple of years ago. He moved into a house last August of 2005 in a run down part of a college town in Kansas called Lawrence.

If you are a student or a parent of a student in Collage, campus security is not anywhere near as good as it should be. Students and parents should know everything about the security of their campus buildings before living on campus for the first time. You and I know, college students are often hurting for cash so it is very tempting to steal another students CD or DVD movie collection to get needed money to pay for things. If you or your family are seriously concerned about dormatory security, I highly recommend visiting Security On Campus , which is a non-profit site with a plethora of useful information for all matters concerning campus security safety.
One of the best small security system suitable for a single dorm room setting is really a fake flower pot hidden camera concelled as a ordinary flower pot no one would even think anything of. It’s perfect for the student who needs to keep track of his or her personal posessions when at class or away on break.
Plus, when hooked into a DVD recorder can provide campus security officials with evidence of what may have been stolen or tampered with.

Hidden cameras are small cameras in ordinary looking everyday objects that film people without their knowledge. There are many common uses for security cameras for instance in stores or banks. But hidden cameras have now become very popular for household surveillance as well. Hidden cameras can be built into many every day common household objects like smoke detectors, clock radios, baby play dolls, clocks, plants, cell phones, are common hidden cameras.Hidden cameras can be either wired or wireless. Wired hidden cameras have a video cable attached to the object that will have to be connected to a TV, VCR, or DVR. Wireless hidden cameras on the other hand will transmit the video signal to a 2.4 GHz receiver within a small (a few hundred feet) radius and also attach to a TV, VCR or DVD to either watch or record.
