4,000 Inmates To Become Online Internet Sexual Child Predators?
The head of the nation’s largest sheriff’s department is warning that nearly 4,000 jail inmates are slated to be released early and about 600 deputy and professional positions could be eliminated to meet budget cuts.
Owing to the economic crisis, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department faces a $71 million cut to its $2.5 billion budget in the coming fiscal year.
So what do you think these criminals are going to be doing in a bad economy? Do you think there are going to all go out and rob banks or houses? No, many will be smart enough to go online and become child predators and commit their crimes that way.
Child predators dig deep into the psyche of a child. They watch their every move and observe their feelings. Child predators know that fact as well as parents. Child predators prowl the Web looking for their next victims. They may pose as another child or teen on sites such as FaceBook or MySpace.
Pedophiles have a compulsion and obsession about children and will do whatever they can to be near them, waiting for an opportunity to get them alone. Pedophiles leave the damage behind for the rest of the victim’s life, and for their families to pick the pieces up. For us as concerned Americans, WE must stand united to stop this pattern of destruction.
Sexual predators of all kind are now tracked using satellites, and are not allowed to live in certain areas (other felons are allowed to live in these areas). Florida and Texas have plans for creating separate hurricane shelters for sexual predators. Sex offenders who have completed the terms of their sentences, including parole, but who have failed to register are subject to arrest.
Sexual predation on minors by adults, both online and offline, remains a concern. Sexual predation in all its forms, including when it involves statutory rape, is an abhorrent crime, although 90,000 sex offenders have been removed from MySpace.
Everyone is a pervert, they just haven’t been caught yet! Everyone, especially parents and children, should be aware of what is becoming a large problem in America, and take steps to prevent falling victim to a child predator. Through this article we will become aware of how easily child predators are able to access the Internet, get a relative profile of Internet child predators and their support system, understand how easily accessible children are to predators, and highlight preventative steps for parents and children that will reduce the risk of becoming an Internet predator’s victim.
The risks are not only confined to Facebook and MySpace but also with XBox Live, where kids compete against players they may not know.
Parents may also wish to consider purchasing and using monitoring software like PC Pandora.
