These days, most of the state statutes permit the recording of speeches and conversations that take place where the parties may reasonably expect to be recorded. Most also exempt from their coverage law enforcement agencies and public utilities that monitor conversations and phone lines in the course of their businesses.

But when the conversation is between parties in states with conflicting eavesdropping and wiretapping laws, federal law generally applies, although either state also may choose to enforce its laws against a violator.

In any case recording both video and audio is not allowed by law as far as hidden covert devices like hidden camera. Anything that is hidden and not in plain site for that has audio recording capability is really not allowed. If you talk to private investigators they will tell you the same thing.

But there is a new device on the market that allows you to record both video and audio at the same time that is not covert but is still small enough that can be carried with you anywhere when you need to perform video and well as audio covert missions.

This is the Spy Cam Stick and recordings are stored on a tiny removable Micro SD card. Up to 33 hours of video can be recorded on a 1Gb Micro SD card. Internal rechargeable battery is recharged via USB connection.

Records for over 2 hours on a single charge. Using the new state-of-the-art 3GP third generation format, recordings can be played instantly on 3GP compatible cell phones and PDAs.

Videos can be played on any PC using free download players from Realtime or Quickplayer. Not only can you record video but also audio with this device.
