As the World Economy falters, crime goes up. Since not even the best law enforcement agency in the US can prevent drugs from infiltrating society, population increases or economic woes, you have to realize nothing can prevent crime from happening.

Economic instability can causes people to become afraid, which in turn causes them to look to someone for help; for answers and bold assurances that they have a plan and that everything will be fine. After World War I, the value of German currency fell, and the government printed more money to pay its debts to other nations.

Now with the US economy and world markets in an unstable state and unforeseeable future of our current economy, crime will not exclude anyone, no matter what their status. Personal residences, mom and pop shops, small and large retailers, Fortune 500 companies, the primary difference between how each is effected depends on the steps taken to protect themselves.

Whether it be with a “Beware of Dog” sign, Posted Guards, an on the ball Neighborhood Watch program or Surveillance Cameras, people are beginning to take the necessary steps to ensure the safety of their people, their equipment and their homes/facilities.

Employee theft is one of the most pervasive problems faced by businesses today, and it continues to escalate at an estimated rate of 15 percent per year. Business owners must be aware of these facts in order to detect employee theft. It is a common fact that most employers do not suspect their employees of theft. Business owners like to think that their employees are honest and care about the business almost as much as the owners do. Theft and dishonesty is only a problem for big business. Business owners who make frequent bank deposits substantially reduce their risk. If you handle a lot of cash, make deposits twice a day.

Employees can steal easily in many ways, with some examples being: not giving the customer a receipt and the correct change, giving back fictitious refunds, and pretending to ring up merchandise for friends. Prevention is key, but if you own a business and suspect that an employee is stealing from you, call the police. Employees steal for many reasons, and most explain it by rationalizing their actions, blaming the company for poor oversight or for providing easy opportunities to steal. Employees define what is right and wrong regarding their behavior, and they can rationalize stealing from their employer in their own minds. Sexual Harassment is such a big thing in thing country. It’s really kind of a joke, but should be no laughing matter. Sexual Harassment is so easy to be made up especially by women. If you wanted to take a co-worker out on a date, do most of your talking outside of work not in the workplace.

Sexual Harassment is the unwelcome physical, verbal or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature. This includes comments about the way you look, indecent remarks, questions or comments about your sex life, requests for sexual favors, sexual demands by a member of your own or opposite sex, any conduct of a sexual nature which creates an intimidating, hostile or humiliating work environment for you.

Sexual harassment doesn’t depend upon attractiveness or gender (Women can be sexual harassers, too. I personally know a woman who lost her job over it.). Sexual harassment happens, and it’s wrong, but it is not the scourge of the workplace it has been made out to be.

Harassment refers to a wide spectrum of offensive behavior. When the term is used in a legal sense it refers to behaviors that are found threatening or disturbing, and beyond those that are sanctioned by society. Harassment, that’s another thing. While I was never harassed at work, I did receive obscene phone calls from someone who knew my name.

Harassment is continued unwanted attention. I don’t know about in the workplace, but I have heard of a few guys who try to report stalking/harassment by women to the police, and they get the, “Well aren’t you lucky!” response. Harassment can happen even in “enlightened” climates. Every university or company has policies on how to define and address such situations, and you should know the policies at your institution.

Employers are encouraged to take steps necessary to prevent sexual harassment from occurring. Employers and employer groups, therefore, should focus their efforts to influence or to affect the legal issues involved in sexual harassment through the courts instead of through the legislative process. Lawsuits that appear to be significant can be monitored.

Courts have long recognized the difficulties of proving sexual harassment in the workplace, inasmuch as improper or unlawful behavior often takes place in private. To excuse a party who lied or concealed evidence on the ground that the evidence covered only “personal” or “private” behavior would frustrate the goals that Congress and the courts have sought to achieve in enacting and interpreting the Empire’s sexual harassment laws. Courts must consider the “totality of the circumstances” in making the determination of whether a hostile work environment exists. Courts cannot use an “individualized, incident-by-incident approach” in making this determination. Court of Appeals must now re-examine the case to determine if he suffered illegal sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment laws seem to fit except they only refer to the work place and she is not an employee of the facility. Sexual harassment is a form of discrimination on the basis of gender, and it is legally and morally wrong. Legally, it is not limited to one gender or one sexual orientation.

Employee theft is one of the most pervasive problems faced by businesses today, and it continues to escalate at an estimated rate of 15 percent per year. This volume presents the first full-length guide to the alternatives available to companies seeking to reduce both the actual theft of tangible property and the profits lost through cheating on time cards and expense accounts.
