WorldTracker PLD is a new GPS Tracker that is not only very powerful but also a cost-effective personal GPS tracker which combines accurate GPS monitoring and reporting with worldwide quad-mode capabilities and voice communication features. It also is very small as you can see in relation to a set of car keys making it lightweight and easy to store on a body or piece of equipment.
The WorldTracker PLD ideal for asset management ,personal safety or covert GPS tracking. What makes this a unique personal safety device is the ability to have 2-way voice communication.
Voice communication becomes very useful when used to track people who have mental and/or physical problems and you either need to hear or try and contact him or her who has wondered off. Also, if you child has been abducted, to be able to hear what is going on with the child if he or she is being physically abused while you are racing to track them down before they are harmed.
Not only that but the WorldTracker PLD will provide continuous tracking virtually everywhere including inside buildings and garages, reporting and monitoring for up to 2 weeks. Many GPS tracking devices lose tracking signals inside building and/or garages. Many people who are abducted are led into buildings or garages and you need to track them and have police safely apprehend the abductors. So this feature will especially be attractive to parents.
Now let’s take a look at what the device features look like. First of all the GPS Tracker has a speaker built in for send emergency voice message to the end person who is tracking and listening. you can adjust the call volume when communication through voice. The microphone allows you to communicate with a family member or friend in an emergency situation.
The PTC (Push To Call) button switch allows the user to place a call to a number that has been programmed into it, such as a family member’s cellular phone. You can program that number into the tracker by connecting it to a computer. Once that number is called, you can communicate with the person holding the tracker from the phone number it called.
The User-defined button is not currently used.
the Geo Fence button can be used for Geo-fencing under the advanced setup. The software that comes with the tracking service has this capability.
As you can see from the front view are the LED indication lights. One thing to note about this GPS Tracker is there is no Power Switch. The tracker is always on when an external power is connected or the battery is installed.
Here is a table that shows how the LED indication lights mean when the unit is operating.
As you can see from the side view below there is a USB connector that servers to both charge the battery in the tracker and to allow it to be programmed from a computer when plugged in. The Headset jack allows you to plug in an external headset for listening.
The WorldTracker PLD comes with a prepaid SIM card. The SIM card is placed under the battery after carefully removing it from the larger card. The figure below shows how this is done.
Charging the Battery:
The WorldTracker PLD is supplied with a Lithium-Ion rechargeable battery. Remove the protective cover between the battery and the PLD before charging. Use the supplied USB cable connected to a desktop or laptop computer to charge the battery. Please note that the PLD must be charged for 12 hours prior to use.
Operating with a 1340 mAh (or optional 2000 mAh) rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, the WorldTracker PLD will provide continuous tracking, reporting and monitoring for up to 2 weeks.
Advanced Setup:
The WorldTracker PLD can be programmed with advanced features:
1.) Emergency Voice monitoring and/or 2-way voice communication.
2.) Programming phone numbers to call.
3.) Programming the PLD to use SMS or GPRS GPS protocols.
These advanced features will be explained in detail in the users manual that comes with the WorldTracker PLD.
Tracking Data:
Viewing the tracking data requires Internet Explorer in order to function properly. to view dates, times and speed of a record, click on a specific map point.
Downloading Data:
Tracking Data is automatically saved for all location information sent by the GPS Tracker to the data server.
Maps:
The WorldTracker PLS is capable of using Microsoft Virtual Earth by setting the appropriate web browser options. Or you can use Google Earth by downloading it for free and setting some simple web browser options.
Reports:
You can obtain a complete activity report for the trackers activity which may be a driving report and parking report. Travel data includes street address, duration of stops, mileage, speed and other daily travel data.
Geo Fences:
When the WorldTracker PLD enters or leaves a preset square around a certain location, you can receive an alert via e-mail or on your cell phone if it supports e-mail. This is a great feature that many tracking devices have these days.
