Pinhole cameras have been around for many hundred years that have dated as far back as 1544 are one of the earliest styles of spy cameras ever created. A pinhole camera is essentially a small-enclosed box with a tiny hole placed on one of the sides. When light is allowed to entire through the tiny hole, an image of the object directly outside the hole is projected onto the opposite side of the box.

There are actually many different styles of pinhole cameras available today. They are often used for covert video surveillance applications because they can be made very small, so they can be easily hidden.

Even though these cameras are “new and improved” for today’s technology age, they are all still built around the same simple concept of projecting light. The boxes themselves may have changed, but the idea behind them remains the same.

Many pinhole spy cameras are CMOS type instead of CCD but CDD type hidden cameras represents a huge difference in quality! CCD stands for Charged Coupled Device and it is analog technology. The CCD camera has a little bit higher resolution than CMOS. The camera also functions better in low light. A CCD camera drains a little bit more power than the CMOS cameras.

This pinhole spy camera also has a neat Alert Feature that instantly sends email and/or telephone call when a motion-activated “alarm” is sensed which is great for child care, nanny care or employee or business theft when things are stolen and you need to be alerted about it.
