Money Magazine Voted Naperville #2 Best Places to Live in 2006. While Naperville is #2 in good place to live and in general is a better place to live in for various reasons in many ways it suffers from many of the same things other small and large cities have… Crime, Vandalism, Theft, Violent Crimes and yes MURDER!

In fact murders and robberies in Naperville increased slightly from 2004. Aggravated assaults increased nationwide, but decreased significantly in Naperville, from 92 in 2004 to 45 last year.

Murders rose 4.8 percent  nationally. Three murders were reported in Naperville in 2005.

Arson and motor vehicle thefts decreased in Naperville between 2004 and 2005, but there were more reports of total property crimes and larceny-thefts.

Even though Naperville officials claim that residents are living in a safe city that warn citizens that they should take steps to insure they are not a victim.

Nationwide, the overall increase in violent crime was 2.5 percent, which basically means that there were more than 1.4 million crimes. Robberies in Naperville were up 4.5 percent and aggravated assaults 1.9 percent.

So lets take a look at Naperville’s crime report for 2005 which most likely be increased for 2006 due to poor economic conditions throughout the nation.
